Alright readers I need your input, especially all you digital SLR camera folks out there. Over the past few months I have experimented with various digital SLR cameras and have am idea of which brand I am liking right now, but I am currently making my shopping list for a new camera and want some various viewpoints. Soo what I would like to know: what digital SLR body do you have, Likes and Dislikes, typical flash arrangement (built in, shoe mounted, remote mounted, etc), most used lens (first and second choice would be nice). Your input will be greatly appreciated, if you don't want to post it as a comment, send it here.

I went for the Nikon D80. My decision was based on several factors. First, the grip is awesome. It has a bigger grip than the Cannon's of similar price range. It is heavy which will be good for dealing with the abuse it might see in the mountains, hiking, bouncing along in a box in the back of the 4-wheeler, etc.. During a hike this spring I took it off briefly, holding it by the grip with the neck strap hanging down. Somehow my crazy dog ran through the loop of the strap, jerked it out of my hands and ran about 15 feet with it. He was wet too. The camera was fine.
The other thing I REALLY like is that it has a display on the top in addition to the picture/menu display. I use this A LOT when I am switching my f-stops, ISO and shutter speeds (and other stuff too). It allows you to switch right there without entering the menu mode.
My only lens is one I upgraded on the kit. A 18-135 f/3.5 - f/5.6 I like it a lot. But I would really like a longer telephoto also. I also want a fast prime lens, maybe a 55mm f/1.4 . I like to NOT use the flash indoors and with a huge f-stop like that I think it would work really great.
Now on the other hand, my Dad really likes Cannon. One thing I noticed is that when you look through the view finder the settings were easier to read on mine. I will have to say that he really likes his Cannon though.
It's a personal decision.. Ford or Chevy? Really, I don't think you can go wrong as long as YOU are happy.
Sorry for the book.
I think I like canons. Especialy the ones with the loud BOOM! No really the 40D is my dream camera. 10.1 pixels, 6.5 frames per second. Get this with a 430EX flash, and a 28-135 IS lense. Good starting point. I talked with a guy who had a Nikon with 12 some pixels, and he did not like it. I think around 10 pixels is perfect. The 40D is a little more money, but worth the speed. Most cameras around $350 -$400 are only 3.5 frames per second. Ask Wrena, this is sometimes to slow. Its worth the $900 for the 40D kit. I can send you links to some of the camera selling sites that are lower in price. I've done alot of research on canons. A little on Nikons. Pentax is supposed to be the best in lense quality. Pentax also makes lenses for Nikon. We stayed with canon, because we allready had lenses from the 35mm camera. 40D is first choice. XSI would be second choice, with same flash and lense to start with. XSI is 12.2 pixels, 3.5 frames per second. Costco has these for $700 right now. My ultimate choice would be the Mark 1D III. 10.1 pixels, 10 frames per second. Around $3500, ouch. Would love it though. The biggest difference between the Nikon and Canon is 11 focas points in the Nikon and only 9 in the canon. Pretty comparable. Nikon is usually a frog hair less money than the Canon. I haven't done alot of research on other camera makes. All I know is that sony makes a good radio, fugi makes good film, kodax makes you smile, panasonic makes a good microwave, HP, well you know more about them than I do, and pentax makes the windows in the space shuttle.
